My name is HEKMAT ISSA. I am a mother-tongue
teacher of Arabic in Kristianstad. I have about 80
pupils from different countries such as Iraq, Palestine, Lebanon, Kuwait,
Morocco and Jordan. They all speak different dialects of the same language.
METHODS USED IN THE TEACHING OF
ARABIC.
Upper secondary school:
1. In upper secondary school we use special books in
Arabic. We often get special material for teaching.
2. We also work in class with the pupils and give support in different
subjects by inerpreting and translating.
3. We also help the pupils outside the classroom in different groups.
4. Group size in mother-tongue teaching can vary between 5 to 15 pupils
in each group.
5. Mother-tongue teachers can act as intermediaries between parents and
school staff and also as interpreters at parent-teacher conferences.
6. Mostly I work together with SV-2 teachers, teachers for pupils with
special needs, head teachers and other school staff involved in the teaching of
my pupils.
7. The language is essential if a parent wants to take an active part in
the children's schooling. In my opinion language training for parents is very
important.
8. I would like to invite parents to come to my Arabic lessons and find
out about methods to teach their children.
